You're right and those sneaky insurance companies will raise rates at every opportunity. I'm guessing the insurance company considers the majority of drivers they track as aggressive and higher risk. How many people drive at or below the speed limit all the time? Hopefully that tracking info won't be sold to your new insurance company. Nothing would surprise me today. Too much watching and tracking going on. And all for $$$. First...Red light cameras and now speeding cameras too. RE: DAVEs GARAGE - DaveR - 07-24-2024 Okay,, not fixing or working on any vehicle but i did put up Pegboard in my Garage. Its been so long since i put some up in my old house that i honestly dont remember how i did it last time, not to mention the Garage walls in my old house were concrete and this house its drywall. Needless to say it took a bit of time to find the studs and then i screwed in furring strips as a backer to attach the Pegboard to. Has anyone done it differently? Just about every garage I've had, I put pegboard somewhere, my garage is my workshop. I always did it your way, furring strips over the wall studs. I do skip studs since I put horizontal strips top and bottom. BTW, I have a stud finder I bough many years ago and still use it, saves lots of banging on walls. My one complaint is that I have a few hundred pegboard hooks and accessories that fit the smaller holes that pegboards used to have, now I had to buy all new ones for the larger size holes. Could not find the old style pegboard anywhere for what I put up in my current garage. Yes a good sized Garage makes a great workshop!! I used the stud finder and did decent at marking them, i think there is some electrical conduit for the WH behind there.. so have to be careful where i put in a screw! LOL Im also running some horizontal strips but on top putting a 1x3 and extending it past the pegboard by maybe 12-18”. I’ll attach some hooks to it to hang ext cords or maybe air hose or Tools too heavy/long for the pegboard example those long bar clamps. RE: DAVEs GARAGE - DaveR - 08-20-2024 Nothing going on in anyones Garage? Hmmm.. ? RE: DAVEs GARAGE - Diane - 08-20-2024 (08-20-2024, 03:22 AM)DaveR Wrote: Nothing going on in anyones Garage? Hmmm.. ? I put up pegboard in the garage a while back and also in one kitchen cabinet to hang scrubby things. This weekend I eliminated a door that goes into the old boathouse (Previous owners term) which is now guesthouse in order to have more wall space inside for a tiny kitchenette. Remove door and replace with a piece of T-111. Boom. $34. Now the sliding barn door will hang in that place like a picture on a wall and wont get any more damage from standing water. Also handymen took down trees preparing for any storms. Always, always projects here. Too many to count. The market mobile office is also taking shape and nearly ready for floors. I go through the garage rather than the front door to come and go and I have to listen to my tools groaning and begging me to stop and use them. (there is no room in my garage/workshop for a vehicle). I have a project or two that I want to appease my tools desires but when it's like a pizza oven, it's really hard to stay there and work. I tried last week, but it's just not the right time, and putting A/C in an uninsulated garage isn't an option. RE: DAVEs GARAGE - susanb - 08-20-2024 as fun as it sound........I'll pass by this conversation......smile RE: DAVEs GARAGE - DaveR - 08-21-2024 (08-20-2024, 10:26 AM)Diane Wrote:(08-20-2024, 03:22 AM)DaveR Wrote: Nothing going on in anyones Garage? And yeah have a tendency to come and go (when im leaving the house) through the Garage door rather than the front door. Ive been tied up with work and ridding myself of another project so have not had time to play around with the ‘69 Triumph as yet. Hopefully late Sept when it starts cooling down a bit too. RE: DAVEs GARAGE - Debbie - 10-06-2024 I have a car question and admit that I know absolutely nothing about cars! I have a 2009 Honda Fit. Last week my car would not start. Called road service and got a battery jump and then took it to my local mechanic to find out what happened. The car battery is only a year old. I was told that the overhead light had been left on. Not sure how that happened but I was told the car is fine. But now my key fob isn't working. I can start the car after I manually open the door, but it's a bother! Does it also need a new battery? Where do I take it to have the battery replaced? RE: DAVEs GARAGE - ezdays - 10-07-2024 (10-06-2024, 11:42 PM)Debbie Wrote: I have a car question and admit that I know absolutely nothing about cars! Hi Debbie, good to see you. Two things, if you leave one door slightly ajar, the overhead light will stay on in many vehicles. That could be the culprit. I have a 2020 Honda Ridgeline, but in all cases on all makes, the battery can be changed by the owner. It looks like yours might take a 1016 coin battery which you can buy at Walmart or any hardware store. If you don't have the owner's manual to tell you how to change it, you can go to one of several YouTube videos like this one: how to change a 2009 Honda key fob battery If you don't want to do that, some stores that only sell batteries will do it for you. Worse choice would be a Honda dealer but that will cost a lot more. Good luck. Hi Debbie,, As Don said.. your Key fob battery is meant to be replaced, and being that its 5y old..its probably time. If you look closely you’ll probably see a seam around the middle,, there may also be an indentation somewhere along that seam. Use a flat head screwdriver or maybe a Dime and pry it apart..GENTLY. It should pop open..you should see a Battery, pay attention to which side is + and which is - before you remove it and then replace with a new one. Let us know how it goes. RE: DAVEs GARAGE - susanb - 10-10-2024 hi Dave.......can we assume that you are safe where your are? hope so |
