Cinco de Mayo is celebrated much more widely in the U.S. than in Mexico and is really more of a Mexican-American holiday. It is often incorrectly believed to be a celebration of Mexican independence from Spain; this date is September 16. Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico's victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Happy Cinco de Mayo anyway.

Thank you, Armand....that's what I've heard over the years ....Cinco de Mayo is fictitious to a minor degree ....another holiday, though, for some people (mostly in the U.S.) to celebrate.
