Welcome to the Catholic Hangout
Discussing content from other sites
#1
The Internet at times are very loose, folks post all sorts of stuff with no concern about the content and where it came from. There are those however, that get a bit grouchy when someone posts or uses their material without permission or in some cases, compensation. Just keep that in mind when referring to things you want others to know about or discuss that comes from other sources. If you find content on other sites such as Catholic Match or Ava Maria, chances are that it is copyright protected, that also goes for things on YouTube. If you don't have permission to use it, you are much safer just posting a link and not the content itself. If we find copies of copyright material, we are obligated to remove it unless the poster declares that they have permission to post it. Bear in mind, written material and artwork are copyrighted by default, no one has to apply, it just is that way. Post anything original on the Internet or in print and it is protected from willful use by others.

We also have to reiterate that we are not a dating site, our purpose is to keep Catholic friends that we've met elsewhere together, and to make new friends. We do not want anyone to think that we are replacing the CM forums because that's not our intent. So please don't make it appear as if we are an extension of another site. If a couple find each other here, fantastic, God is good, but that's not our goal. I'm sure they want to keep their correspondence private in those circumstances. Use our private messaging system (it is truly private) or any of the many other off-site venues available to all.

Just a little heads-up, we don't want anyone to have problems, or get Catholic Hangout on the hook for posting content or videos and stepping on people's toes in the process. We are fortunate that our software allows you to place attachments, photos and videos in your posts, but if you found them on the Internet, it's best that you post a link instead.
