We've been on line for two weeks now, maybe not long enough for everyone to test the waters, but I'm curious if some of the features satisfy what everyone is looking for. Just a few examples, you have 30 minutes to edit or even delete a post compared to 0 at CM when it was up. You can add photos and attachments to your post, up to 5 per post, compared to 0 back then. There is no limit to the number of posts per day, compared to 10 at CM. Also, you can track a private message and you can see when the last time a member has been on line here. And yes, you can change your avatar photo as many times as you like without it being screened first. Just don't get too frisky...
One other noticeable difference, many forums, including CM, the admin staff would rarely participate in discussions, except to clarify some rule. One reason we have these forums is that both Joshua and I miss the participation talking and listening to what our friends had to say, so we will not be hiding behind the curtain, and will post regularly and we will not take advantage of our position. We really were lost there for a while. Oh yeah, and I hope our rules are brief, easy to understand and easy to find.
I'm just checking, are you pleased with what we've created here? Is there any feature that is difficult to use, or a feature that we could possibly implement?
Your feedback would be appreciated. We turned this around in a short time, so we may not be 100% complete just yet.

It is a great platform Don and Flattbear. A little learning curve but not at all bad. I keep trying to "like" posts, but as I think about it I am glad we don't have that feature.

I agree William, there is a similar feature but it is hidden. I do hope we have some spirited discussions here, I just don't like a rating system that embarrasses some and gives bragging rights to others. That, plus it adds to the clutter.

On this forum, whenever I return to a thread that I've previously reviewed, I am brought to the very first post. It makes it harder to sift through the messages.
Whereas with CM forum, it brings me to the first post that I haven't read. I liked that about the CM forums.

We have that too. If there is a thread where you have unread posts, there's a little green arrow to the left of that thread's name. Click on it and it'll take you to your first unread post. I believe that's how it worked on CM as well. Clicking on the post name will always bring to to the first post. If you want to go to the very last post, click on "last post" to the right of the thread.
If you want to see all the threads where you have unread posts, click on, "view unread posts" at the black nav bar at the top of the page.

Posting an avatar photo should be easy from you computer.
- Just click on "UserCP" at the top of any page
- Click on "change Avatar" on the left side bar
- Click on 'Browse" and that will take you to your computer to select the photo
- Be sure the photo is at least 150 pixels wide and no more that 25K file size
- Upload photo by clicking on "Open", then click on "change Avatar".

This has worked out very well. I cannot think of anything i would recommend changing. I feel I am still learning about the site's features. I just figured out yesterday how to post photos, without a little help from Don about the image size reduction. Thank you Don and Joshua for your efforts.
It is interesting that Don commented that CM admin rarely contributed to the forums. This was not true until maybe a few years ago. I know Brian would often chime in. Much of the time it was to defend the site against people who were unhappy. The lack of admin participation in recent years was a sign to me that the forums were probably on the way out. This turned out to be correct. But fortunately we have a great alternative here.

When I came aboard CM, the only time I saw a post from Brian was when he had to correct someone, or define a policy. No interaction so no one really got to know him. My comment was basically that Joshua and myself missed that interaction as members and we intend to keep it here on CH, regardless. No hiding behind the curtain, no just sitting back and monitoring things, we will post just as we had over there.

Brian could sometimes be rather sharp and acerbic in his treatment of members who were critical of the site. I remember a few years back a lady who posted that she was in business also. She then asked Brian "What business model makes you think it is a good idea to berate your customers?" It appeared that Brian softened his approach after this.

Thank you, Don and Joshua, for adding those other emojis ...
Don't like to complain nor compare this platform with another, now defunct forum, but would you be able to set up another emoji representing a rose? On that other platform's forums, I used to sign many of my posts with the and along with a rose and a smiley face.
You guize are great with getting this platform up and running! Thank you so much!

I do have a rose that I can add and will do so as soon as I get it the right size. I just want to go through a few others and do them all at once.
Thank you, Don... no rush... get to it when you can.
And if I may ask, do you remember the "wave" ....a waving hand ... sometimes (on the other platform), I'd respond to someone's forum post with a smile and a wave of my hand ... would you be able to put together a waving hand emoji? Thank you!
