There has been a number of threads relating to Christmas. What are you all doing for Advent?
There are a couple of books that I plan to read from a long list that my local priest recommended:
-Welcoming the Christ Child with Padre Pio: Daily Reflections for Advent by Susan De Bartoli
-Celebrating a Merry Catholic Christmas: A Guide to the Customs and Feast Days of Advent and Christmas by William Saunders
The Hallow app also has an Advent prayer challenge. I'm sure it would be helpful, but I personally don't want any more apps.

Thanks for mentioning this, April. Our pastor reminded us this past Sunday that regardless of what the world and the media tell us, it is not Christmas yet. He emphasized the importance of the Advent preparation with all the "treasures" (his word) the Church offers us. These include the mass and confession. The purple vestments worm by the priest remind us that Advent is a penitential period, kind of mini-Lent.
As for my own Advent preparation, I will light my Advent candles every Sunday, try to go to mass and/or adoration more often, and read my "Magnificat Advent Companion" (highly recommended) every day, Our parish is also offering Stations of the Cross on Fridays and I will make an effort to attend this as well.

Hi April. I am glad you started this thread and thanks for asking everyone!
Every Advent season, I focus on Almsgiving and Prayer. In Advent 2023, I did the Hallow Advent challenge. For Advent 2024, I will be fasting, giving alms, praying and accept the 2024 Hallow Advent Challenge. I will also light the Advent Candles as well.
As an Usher, I also wear the liturgical colors as a subtitle reminder for parishioners that we are in the Advent season
