no sure if other countries have a similar holiday to remember this or when......

we get an early thanksgiving then all that candy and chocolates
then the Christmas decorations begin.......

long list always

there are enough things that are tiresome so this is joyful

babysitting the best grandkids ever
participating with my choir
my family
my parents gorgeous condo that is almost mine
my health
plus a million more Love

of course I omitted the most obvious one
but for God's grace go I.... Hands

Thanks for posting this, Susan. Thanksgiving comes a little later in the states (November 28) but it helps to have an attitude of gratitude year-round. When you are single and have a longing for a partner that is not fulfilled, it is easy to focus on what is missing. I do have a lot to be thankful for:

A nice home that I own outright (no mortgage)
More than adequate income for a single person
Good health
Faith
Being retired and being able to take whatever interesting classes I want
My volunteer job in the parish library
Living in a place with a climate that is conducive to spending time outdoors
This forum
Many more

Getting up in the morning
Being self-sufficient at an age where most folks are not
Caring friends and family
Living in a country that has a free economy and the freedom to choose (enter anything here)

Tonight we can see the Hunter's moon. It's a supermoon which is particularly bright. Love it!

Last Thursday I went outside to see if I could see  a comet which was supposed to be visible.  I noticed an unusually red colored cloud directly above me in the sky...yet it was already an hour past sunset. Within a few minutes redness and red beams of light showed up starting in the North and then from different directions engulfing much of the sky around me. For years I have tried to get a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis on very rare occasions when there is a miniscule chance of actually seeing anything in this area, and have always ended up seeing nothing at all.... and this time I wasn't even looking for them.

Though trivial, it's a little something I am recently thankful for... that I just happened to be outside at that time and in the right place to get a great view.

Something happened to me today that I very grateful to God for.

Shoe shopping is one of my least attractive thing to do so I put off buying shoes until its obvious that I need to replace a shoe. Lately I have been looking for sturdy slip on shoes that fit without much success and today I reached a point of giving up. However, I decided to enter a shop that I have entered several times before without success. I found a young lady that showed me a hack that proved to be quite helpful to me. Its a small thing that mean a great deal to me. I credit the Holy Spirit for nudging me to re-enter that shop yet again. Thank you, Jesus.

the lawyer cancelled wed.......hasn't rebooked as yet.............
and my plans expected for my very disabled
son have been cancelled
so we are looking at 6 mos to a year instead
of 3 to five months.

hopefully the new folks will respect all the hard preparation we did for the past 8 months...

instead of starting over with a clean sheet of paper as has been my experience for years
[like a new country rather than a new supervisor]
