Speaking of "preferred" pronouns, I started to see the following disclaimer in medical notes since January of 2024:
Documentation for this chart was dictated and transcribed using dictation system.
Dictation errors, grammatical errors, and incorrect pronouns may have occurred during the electronic transcription process.
Patients can also now add their "preferred" pronouns to their medical record.
The purpose of medicine is to objectively diagnose ailments and illnesses - deviations from normal anatomy and physiology - NOT what is socially "correct" and expedient.
