Where Are The Lurkers?

In this case, the non-members viewing this site are generally going to be safe people. There is actually another site called Catholic Hangout but is is not a forum, just articles and book and movie reviews. When I google "Catholic Forums," this site does not come up, at least on the first three pages.

Thank you, Armand, for this topic.

Speaking only for myself, I've been rather down-in-the-dumps over the past several months and didn't find anything of any interest, anywhere, not just here on CH, but even in real life.  And trying to garner a little joy and happiness (for which I pray everyday), I've popped into the threads regarding word association, just because.  There have been a number of topics I've wanted to begin here, but it's my understanding that we're not to discuss politics, which plays a significant role in my life.  So I lurk here on CH, but not even all that much.  I'm finding the topics to be a bit, well, uhmmm, can't put a descriptive word to it, hoping and praying for some inspiration and that I'll get a burst of a desire to chime in.  Going back to the piano or my sewing room to work on the current project.

Take care, Armand, and here's wishing you a very blessed Advent Season, and a Merry Christmas next Wednesday! Smile

I have to say, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with anyone, from anywhere in the world, being able to read my posts.

"I believe the posts can be read by anyone worldwide, ..."

Do you know this, as truth in fact?

I can certainly relate to your comment, April ... just trying to survive, taking things one day at a time.

Hope you can figure out what career path you wish to take.  For me, I've been so grateful to God, every evening in my night prayers, thanking God for the job and my boss ... we never did have to shut down back in March of 2020, even though we are a small business -- just he and I -- I've thought that if it were any smaller, I wouldn't be there.  It's a part time job, and I could certainly use more hours, and some days it's so quiet in the office (no one with whom to interact ... argh! Sad ... my boss doesn't show up until mid-day since he works in the evening, and in the mornings from home), but he's a joy to work for.  Plus he so tremendously reminds me of my Dad, very even-keeled, no hot temper, no foul language, very gentlemanly; so God provides exactly what we need.  Some friends have told me to just quit (because of the part time aspect), but I've had the feeling that Our Lord has me right where He needs and wants me the most ... quietly doing my job without a lot of drama that I've experienced at other places of work.  Both my boss and I absolutely loathe the drama, some of which we've caught from the company upstairs of us.  It's laughable for both of us.

Anyway, my suggestion (for what it's worth), if you're not really happy at your job, and we spend most of our waking hours earning a living, we ought to be doing something that we enjoy.  I hope you can find something that you'll not only enjoy, but excel in ... Saint Joseph is the Patron Saint of workers, so maybe a novena to him would help.  I know that he has helped me, countless times throughout my work life.

All the best to you, April, and here's wishing you a very blessed Advent Season and a Merry Christmas next Wednesday!

Smile

There are whole threads of topics that can be derived from just this post.

I find myself mostly a lurker here. I had become rather unresponsive on CM towards the end as well. Lots of reasons, mostly lack of time and surplus energy. I also find that there are not as many provocative posts put out there. I don't think a replication of the bloody arena sands of CM are in order, but some of the Posts of Flaming Nonsense kept things lively. Like the dating contracts and steplist dating guides from guys who did not like women. Good times, but guilty pleasures.

Just have to agree! Smile Smile Smile
