We are approaching two years since Catholic Match forums ended. I believe the date is May 18. How is everybody doing? Are you still on CM? I reluctantly renewed my membership for another year but sometimes wonder why. Apparently, they have dropped speed dating for no apparent reason and now have their own version of the Dating Game, which seems rather silly. I am grateful to still have this forum to keep in touch with old friends. But it seems that many have fallen by the wayside since the beginning. A lot of work went into this forum. Consequently, it is sad to see it so underused. Any ideas about how to give this forum a shot in the arm?

Hi Armand! Great Post! Thank you for reminding me!
I have tried CM for almost three years but I had to give it up a week before Thanksgiving last year. I was a beta tester for the CM's Relate which I thought was a replacement of the forums. It is interesting to see other people on the video camera as some people I met on there also miss the old forums. Some of those people I met were the old CM forum lurkers.
This is forum is different compared to the old CM forums, yet the older CM forums had nasty users who said horrible things about other users. This is one reason why CatholicHangout exists
As for improving this forum, We are always looking for more members who want to join and contribute. This forum is designed to be a safe haven for all Catholics from secular social media. I will be looking for people at my local parish, or in my travels who want join this forum. I have been praying for other users to come to this forum. I will look for ways to promote this forum

Thanks, Joshua. I admit to not having tried many Relate activities. I feel that I already have enough scheduled activities. What I liked about the forums was that you could post whenever you wanted and did not have to schedule anything. I sometimes don't understand CM's decisions. I thought that speed dating was supposed to be the centerpiece of Relate but now it appears that they have dropped it entirely. Anyway, I would not necessarily rule out participating in Relate in the future.
I don't miss the nastiness that sometimes occurred on CM forums. I think there were a lot of frustrated people who were taking out their frustrations on others. I understand that this forum has a different focus.
It is not so much that this forum needs improvement as it needs more activity. If you could round up some new blood, that would be great.

I have been a little busy recently, but still check every once in a while. As for CM, I no longer subscribe.

For me, the CM forums sometimes felt like being a spectator Roman Colosseum. Other times, we were answering dating the average run of the mill dating related questions (I cannot get a date, how do I <ABC> etc.). The last dating question I remembered before the forum went dark was ... "Should I tell my date I am in-between jobs?" (Head smack emoji here). Oddly enough, I knew at the back of my mind, a user would ask that question at some point.
As for CatholicHangout, we remain a Catholic alternative to secular social media. If you have any friends at your local parish, they are invited to join as well. I will be asking around my local parish as well.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Doug, it was good to see you again. I think inviting other Catholics to become members is a great idea. There were a lot of negative things about CM forums but the one good thing was that there was always a steady stream of new people. Some were seen one or two times; others became regulars. Almost one month into my CM renewal, nothing has changed. I can understand why many did not renew. At least I can sniff out the scammers from a mile away. I recently saw a profile where she referred to her town as being in a different state than what was stated on her profile picture. She was gone within 24 hours. The more things change there, the more they remain the same.
