The Internet at times are very loose, folks post all sorts of stuff with no concern about the content and where it came from. There are those however, that get a bit grouchy when someone posts or uses their material without permission or in some cases, compensation. Just keep that in mind when referring to things you want others to know about or discuss that comes from other sources. If you find content on other sites such as Catholic Match or Ava Maria, chances are that it is copyright protected, that also goes for things on YouTube. If you don't have permission to use it, you are much safer just posting a link and not the content itself. If we find copies of copyright material, we are obligated to remove it unless the poster declares that they have permission to post it. Bear in mind, written material and artwork are copyrighted by default, no one has to apply, it just is that way. Post anything original on the Internet or in print and it is protected from willful use by others.

We also have to reiterate that we are not a dating site, our purpose is to keep Catholic friends that we've met elsewhere together, and to make new friends. We do not want anyone to think that we are replacing the CM forums because that's not our intent. So please don't make it appear as if we are an extension of another site. If a couple find each other here, fantastic, God is good, but that's not our goal. I'm sure they want to keep their correspondence private in those circumstances. Use our private messaging system (it is truly private) or any of the many other off-site venues available to all.

Just a little heads-up, we don't want anyone to have problems, or get Catholic Hangout on the hook for posting content or videos and stepping on people's toes in the process. We are fortunate that our software allows you to place attachments, photos and videos in your posts, but if you found them on the Internet, it's best that you post a link instead.

If you see something that looks like spammers or trolls posting, please contact us by clicking on, “contact us” at the bottom of any page or send a PM to any of the staff. If you are being pestered by another member (non-members cannot post or send messages), or sense that someone is trying to scam you, please, by all means, contact us so we can take appropriate action. Because there is no charge to register and we are not a dating site, we will attract more spammers than scammers but nothing precludes scammers and other annoying people to show up. It’s just the way things are.

Here's our rules, we didn't even bother to number them since there aren't that many. All we ask is that you use common sense when posting, or reporting a post:

We ask that you do not post personal contact information in publicly accessible areas of the site, such as email addresses, social networking information, or specific physical address of yourself and others. There are just too many bad guys looking for this information. Use our private messaging system for that.

Please do not post personal inflammatory comments about other members or non-members or against the Church

Do watch your language, this is a Catholic forum. We do have a banned list of words that just won’t display, and we do have moderators that can and will delete or edit posts with offensive or vile language including words commonly viewed as vulgar, abusive, racist or sexist.

You may post photos, just make sure they are in good taste. Posting nude or distasteful photos can get you banned.

No political posts. There is no good ending to starting a discussion about politics. There are many other social sites that you can go to. Leave your political leanings at home, we want our relationships to remain friendly so posts deemed politically charged will be deleted..

If you like a product, item, a book or whatever, post about it, post a link to it, just don’t post an ad for for it

And be gentle with discussions about the Church and its teachings. We are open to discussions about these things, just don’t trash the Church, our pope or priests or ideology. Keep all discussions healthy.

You can post quotes, but be sure that what you do post is not in violation of any copyright issues, otherwise it’s best to post a link to what you’re talking about.

Please do not start the same thread in different forum categories, duplicates will be deleted by our staff if you do.

And lastly, all posts need to be in English. Our private messaging system is available if you want to talk to someone in another language.
