The triduum of Allhallowtide. I can't tell you how consoling it is for an e-Calvinist, to pray for the dead, perhaps across time and perhaps to effect.

Most of my life is in the rear-view mirror. Most of those I have loved are dead. To pray for their wellbeing is the first consolation I have had for their passing.

Gloomy? No. Somber? Perhaps. Pensive and loving? Oh yes. There are no words which are adequate.
